Switchmate App

Is my Phone / Tablet compatible with Switchmate?

Minimum OS requirements are as follows:

  • Android: version 4.4 or later
  • iOS: version 8.0 or later

How Do I Pair my Switchmate/SimplySmart product with the Switchmate App?

  • Download the Switchmate App (available free from the App or Google Play store)
  • Launch the Switchmate App, and tap the “+ Add Device” button at the bottom of your home screen to add a device.
  • From the menu, select the device you are pairing.
  • When prompted, press the button on your Switchmate device to initiate pairing mode and follow the directions provided by the App.
  • Your device should now be paired with the Switchmate App! If you have a Wi-Fi enabled device, you will be prompted to select your Wi-Fi network and enter your password.

How do I use the Voice Control feature to operate my Switchmate device?

  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap the microphone icon at the top of the home screen.
  • When prompted, say your command into the microphone of your phone or tablet. For example, “Turn Lamp on.”

How do I set the timer(s) on my Switchmate/SimplySmart product?

  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon at the top of the home screen.
  • Tap on the Switchmate/SimplySmart device you would like to set timers for.
  • To set Timer 1, tap on “Timer 1” and select the times you would like your lights to turn on and off, and what days of the week you want the timers to activate.
    • Select how often your timer will Repeat: Daily, Weekdays, Weekends, or Custom.
  • To set a second timer, tap on “Timer 2” and perform the same steps as Step 3.
  • When finished, tap “Save” located at the top of the screen.

My timers are set, but they are not working. I’ve checked everything!

  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon on at the top of the home screen.
  • Scroll down and tap on “Device Info.” At the bottom of the screen choose “Factory Reset.”
  • After factory reset is performed, close out of your Switchmate App and restart your phone or tablet. Make sure your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both “on” upon restart.
  • Depending on the device you have, remove the batteries or unplug your Switchmate, wait a few moments, then reinstall.
  • Launch the Switchmate App and set up your timer preferences again.

What is “Welcome Home,” and how does it work?

The Welcome Home feature is designed to turn lights on once per day as the paired phone or tablet comes within range (~30 meters) of your Switchmate/SimplySmart product! Once activated by your Smartphone, your Switchmate product will stay ON for the preset time of your choosing. This is ideal for coming home at night, if you are carrying multiple things and don’t have the ability to locate and reach your light switch in the dark. To use this feature, please make sure your Location Settings are ON!

To Verify Location is on:

iOS: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Scroll down to Switchmate App > Choose Always On

Android: Swipe down on home screen > Settings gear icon > Scroll down to Personal> Location > App > On

How do I set up Welcome Home?

  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon at the top of the home screen.
  • Tap on the Switchmate devices you would like to set Welcome Home for.
  • Tap on “Welcome Home,” and set the parameters you would like Switchmate to follow:
    • Set the duration for how long you want your lights to turn ON for (range from 15 minutes up to 4 hours).
    • The ability to set your Switchmate to turn OFF at Dawn.
    • The ability to set Welcome Home for All Day
    • Active To/Active From: The ability set the time you would like Welcome Home to activate.
  • When finished, tap “Save” located at the top of the screen.

Smart Hub Integration

Do I need a Smart Hub in order to control my Switchmate using Voice Activation?

The Switchmate App has a built in Voice-Activation Control feature, so no need for an additional Hub if you do not already have one.

Is Switchmate compatible with Google Home / Google Assistant?

Yes! Currently, our Switchmate Light Switches and Smart Power Outlet are all compatible with Google Home and the Google Assistant App!

How do I Pair my Switchmate Light Switches and/or Smart Power Outlet to Google?

  • Please make sure you are using the latest version of the Switchmate App (available free from the iTunes and Google Play Stores).
  • Please make sure you have both the Google Home and Google Assistant Apps installed on your phone/tablet and are up-to-date.
  • Launch the Switchmate App and click the gear icon located at the top of the home screen.
  • Tap on “Enable Google Assistant” located at the top of the screen and make note of the six-digit pairing code provided.
  • Open the Google Home App, and in the top left corner open Settings > then Explore. This will launch the Google Assistant App).
  • Use the search bar at the top to search for “Switchmate.”
  • Next to Account Statues, tap on “LINK” and enter your six-digit pairing code.
  • Congratulations, your Switchmate should be paired with Google successfully!

Is Switchmate Power compatible with Amazon Alexa?

Yes! Currently, our Switchmate Smart Power Outlet is compatible with Amazon Alexa. Integration of our Lighting Controls (used in conjunction with the Smart Power Outlet) is currently in development stages and will be available soon!

How Do I Pair my Switchmate Smart Power Outlet with Alexa?

  • Please make sure you are using the latest version of the Switchmate App (available free from the App and Google Play Stores).
  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon located at the top of the home screen.
  • Select your Smart Power Outlet from the list of devices shown.
  • Scroll down and tap “Alexa Linking.” You will be provided wit ha Device ID used to pair your Switchmate with Alexa. Write the Device ID down or select “Copy to Clipboard,” and follow the instructions provided through the App.
  • Congratulations, your Switchmate Smart Power Outlet should be paired with Alexa successfully!

Motion Sensor Set Up

  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap the gear icon located at the top of the home screen.
  • Tap on the Switchmate Slim device you would like to activate Motion Sensors for.
  • Swipe the motion sensor bar to the right to activate your motion sensor (the color will change from white/grey to blue).
  • Duration: Set the length of time you would like the light to be ON for, after the Switchmate Slim initially detects motion. The range can vary between one minute to four hours!
  • All Day: You may set the motion sensors to enable all day by swiping the “All Day” bar to the right (the color will change from white/grey to blue).
  • Active From / Active To: To limit the window of motion sensor activation between specific times of day, please select your time preferences and select “Done.”
  • When finished, tap “Save” located at the top of the screen.

Does the Switchmate Slims motion sensor work in the dark?

Switchmate Slim uses a PIR sensor (Passive Infrared) that detects body heat and operate in the dark without issue!

How Do I Connect my Switchmate Power to Wi-Fi after pairing to the Switchmate App?

In the event you were unable to enter your Wi-Fi information when prompted during initial pairing to the Switchmate App, here are the steps on how to get set-up!

  • Launch the Switchmate App and tap the gear located at the top of the home screen.
  • Tap on one of your Power Outlet icons.
  • Tap “Change Wi-Fi Information.” From here, a list should populate of all Wi-Fi networks within range.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password and tap “OK.”
  • Your Wi-Fi Connection should now be listed as “Connected.” Be sure to tap on “Save,” located at the top of the screen.
  • Congratulations! Your Power should now be connected to Wi-Fi successfully!

Installation Method 1: Command Tape Method

  • Remove the command tape liner off the back of the Cube’s backing
  • Place and press the Cube’s backing on a flat surface and hold down for 1 minute
  • Place the batteries in the back of the Cube, making sure the back 4 batteries have the positive side facing up and the top 2 batteries have the positive side facing down.
  • Close the Cube securely. Be sure that you hear a “click” sound to signify that the Cube has been closed properly

I Put the Batteries in the Cube and it is not turning on. What do I do?

The polarity of the top 2 batteries is opposite of the bottom 4 batteries. The back 4 batteries should have the positive side facing up and the top 2 batteries have the positive end facing down. Please see the following image for reference:

How do I pair the Zip & the Cube?

  • Download the free Switchmate App on the Google Play or App Store. When complete, please open the App.
  • Plug the Zip into a power outlet closest to the location that you will be mounting your Cube camera. You will see green and blue LED lights on the front of the Zip flash.
  • In the Switchmate App, select “+ Add Device,” located at the bottom center.
  • When prompted on the app, press the button on the front of the Zip to pair.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi network and password into the app to complete the pairing with the Zip. You should now be at the home screen of the app.
  • Insert 6 AA lithium batteries into the Cube, noting that the back 4 +/ positive side face up and the top 2 +/ positive side faces down.
  • Press firmly to shut by gripping the top sides of the Cube until you hear a “click” sound. This means your Cube is sealed properly and now weatherproof.
  • In the Switchmate App, select “+ Add Device,” located at the bottom center of the screen.
  • Create your storage account by selecting “Create Login” at the bottom of the app and proceed with creation.
  • You will receive a “Thank You” message and a screen for a verification code. You will receive an email to the account you used to setup your storage account from an email provider “Danale.” Please check your spam or junk folder if it doesn’t show up in your inbox.
  • When prompted on the app, press the button on the top of the Cube to pair.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi network and password into the App to complete the pairing with the Cube.
  • Select what room you are going to be using your Cube in.
  • You will receive a pop up of what your camera quality looks like for placement purposes, so mount the Cube in the desired area, and use your phone to adjust to the desired angle.
  • Enjoy!

I am Trying to Pair my Cube or Zip to Wi-Fi and I Can’t Find my Wi-Fi Network. What do I do?

If you can’t find your network name on the list of Wi-Fi networks and/or a list is not being populated for you, please select “Other,” and carefully type in the name of your Wi-Fi network and the password (case sensitive.) Note for security purposes, users cannot connect to an unsecured network that does not require a password.

I Paired my Zip! Now What do I do?

After your Zip has been paired, click the “add device” icon at the bottom center of the main screen in the Switchmate App. Follow the prompts to pair your Cube camera.

Is the Switchmate Zip Available for Individual Purchase?

Currently, the Zip is only available bundled with the SimplySmart Home Cube HD Home Security Camera. If you are looking for a Bluetooth / Wi-Fi bridge, please consider our Switchmate Smart Power Outlet! If offers the same capabilities of the Zip, as well as some additional features such as the ability to control two plugged in devices, as well as a backlight option!

Do I Have to Create a Switchmate Cloud Account? How do I Set It Up?

A Switchmate Cloud account is required to save and store captured video. If you haven’t created an account before, you will need to set up the Cube, which will automatically prompt you to create an account. Once prompted, click “Create Account” at the bottom and create a login. You will receive a confirmation email from Danale with your verification code. Please type this code into the App, then press Continue. Follow the remaining steps provided through the App.

I Signed Up for the Switchmate Cloud, But I Never Received an Email Verification

Please check your spam folder for an email from “no-reply,” with the subject title “Danale Verification | Sign up.” If you still can’t find it, please reach out to us by leaving a comment below, and our customer support team will assist you as soon as possible.

How do I See Recorded Videos?

You can access your videos and your cloud storage through the Switchmate App! In the App, tap on the “Cube” icon to access your current and past videos!

What is the Cube Camera Resolution?

The Cube is a High Definition camera, with the option between 720P and 1080P HP resolution!

What is recording LED under my Cube’s settings?

If recording LED is turned on under setting, the Green LED on the front of the Cube will flash when it is recording activity.

I’m Unable to Pair my Cube Per the Directions in the App

Please try performing a “soft reset” on your Cube device by simply pressing and holding down the top button for 5-6 seconds until the lights on the front of the device light up. From here, please try pairing again as directed in the Switchmate App.

How do I receive notifications from my SimplySmart Cube?

Enter the settings menu for your Cube by Launching your Switchmate App. Tap on the gear icon at the top of the screen, then tap on the Cube icon!

From there, you can turn notifications from your Cube on and off by tapping the toggle bar to the right.

How do I access the Cube “Settings” Menu, and what features am I able to toggle from there?

You can enter the settings menu for your Cube by Launching your Switchmate App. Tap on the gear icon at the top of the screen, then tap on the Cube icon!

From there, you can access the following options:

  •  Motion Detection (Sensitivity / Record Duration)
  • Night Vision (On/Off)
  •  Recording LED (On/Off)
  • Event Notifications (On/Off)
  •  Video Quality (Best Video/Optimized/Best Battery Life)

How do I change the recording durations on my Cube?

Enter the settings menu for your Cube by Launching your Switchmate App. Tap on the gear icon at the top of the screen, then tap on the Cube icon!

From here, tap on “Motion Detection,” and a drop-down menu will allow you to adjust both recording duration and motion detection sensitivity by sliding the corresponding bars right or left!

What is the difference between “Best Video,” “Optimized,” and “Best Battery Life?”

Your Cube provides you the option of the following resolutions:

  • Best Video (1080p)
  • Optimized (720p)
  • Best Battery Life (480p)

What is Switchmate?

Switchmate is a sleek, minimalist smart lighting device that magnetically snaps on to any standard toggle or rocker light switch, enabling users to control the switch via the Switchmate companion app.

How do I install Switchmate?

Switchmate uses powerful magnets to snap onto the screws of a standard toggle or rocker light switch. Simply snap it into place and connect it to your smartphone.

How does Switchmate work?

Switchmate uses Bluetooth technology to connect to your iPhone or Android phone. If your phone is on this list and is either made by Apple or runs Android, Switchmate will work with your phone. Switchmate typically ranges up to 45 m (150 ft) depending on where you are standing.

What platforms is the companion app available on?

The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms.

Will Switchmate work on my light switches?

Switchmate will fit most standard Toggle or Rocker light switches.

Does Switchmate use WiFi?

Switchmate currently does not have WiFi enabled because of decreased battery life. We are working to make Switchmate’s capabilities better every day!

How long does the Switchmate battery last?

The current model of Switchmate uses 2 AA battery and will last 8-12 months.

How do I turn Switchmate on or off?

Open the Switchmate App, then tap the associated device icon.

I'm having trouble pairing or connecting to my Switchmate

Different types of phones may behave differently when connecting to Switchmate, if you experience issues connecting try each of the following steps and re-try pairing. If that does not resolve the issue, continue to the next one:

  • Turn off Wi-Fi
  • Close the Switchmate app and all other apps and restart the Switchmate app.
  • Turn Bluetooth off and then back on.
  • Reset Switchmate by removing the AA batteries from the back of your unit, then reinstall the batteries.

My Smartphone cannot add multiple Switchmate Devices

Move other Switchmate devices 5 feet away from the device you are trying to connect.

My Smartphone cannot connect to my 1st Switchmate device after adding a 2nd Switchmate

Turn Bluetooth off and then back on to ensure Bluetooth isn’t getting stuck pairing to the device.

My Switchmate Timer isn't working

  1. Check the Switchmate’s Timer Settings
    The Switchmate’s Timers are synchronized with your smartphone’s clock. Please make sure that the times set are saved during set up. If two Smartphones are connected to the same Switchmate, the Switchmate will sync up its clock with the last Smartphone connected.
  2. Check Light Switch
    Check that Switchmate is securely attached to the light switch and verify that it is able to turn the light switch on/off properly.
  3. Reset Switchmate
    Take the batteries out of the Switchmate and put them back in.

My Welcome Home Feature isn't working

  1. Switchmate must be in the OFF position for the Welcome Home Feature to initially engage.
  2. Check that Switchmate is securely attached to the light switch
  3. Reset Switchmate: Take the batteries out of the Switchmate and put them back in.

My Switchmate takes a long time to re-connect to my Smartphone

Close all apps and re-launch the Switchmate App, and try turning Bluetooth off back on.

How do I know my Switchmate is in the right orientation and not upside down on my light switch?

The ▲Top arrow on the back of Switchmate should point to the same direction as the Up/On position of your light switch.

How can I check visually if my Switchmate is in ON or OFF position?

On the back of the Switchmate, you will find ON and OFF labels. Your Switchmate must be in the OFF position for your Welcome Home feature to operate properly.

When will my Switchmate/SimplySmart Order Ship?

You can expect your Switchmate order to ship within 1-2 business days of your order. Once shipped, the transit time varries dependent upon what shipping you select at checkout.

Can I exchange my Switchmate/SimplySmart Order?

Yes! If you have purchased an incorrect model, we will happily exchange it for you at no extra charge. You must have proof of your purchase from any of our privately owned websites and be within the 90 day exchange period. If you have purchased from a retailer, please exchange based on the policies of the retailer where you purchased from.

Can I return my Switchmate/SimplySmart Order for a refund?

Yes! For any reason if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you have 90 days to return. You must have proof of your purchase from any of our privately owned websites and be within the 90 day return period. If you have purchased from a retailer, please return based on the policies of the retailer where you purchased from. Purchases from retailers are not accepted for a refund.

I purchased somewhere else, can I exchange or return my Switchmate to you?

If you purchased from a retailer it is up to them whether or not to allow exchanges or returns and unfortunately we cannot help unless it is an issue covered by our Warranty
